Exercise Specialist | Bronson LakeView Hospital & Bronson South Haven
The Exercise Specialist provides clinical support for Cardiovascular Services and Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation, delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered care across both service lines.
About the Role
This position supports two key areas:
Cardiovascular Services

Perform physician-ordered non-invasive cardiology tests, including 12-lead EKGs, signal-averaged EKGs, Holter and event monitoring, and a variety of cardiac stress tests

Supervise exercise and pharmaceutical stress tests

Administer Lexiscan and Definity per department policy

Assist physicians and clinical staff during sensitive or complex testing situations
Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Supervise Phase II and Phase III cardiac rehab sessions
-
Develop individualized exercise prescriptions for Phase II patients
-
Monitor patient exercise performance, vitals, and EKG rhythm changes
-
Perform body fat analysis and document treatment plans

Support patient education, including exercise intensity, duration, frequency, and home exercise planning
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field required
-
One year of experience working with low- and high-risk patients in exercise testing preferred
-
Completion of Basic and Advanced EKG courses within 12 months of hire
Certifications
-
BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
-
ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
-
ACSM certification preferred

Key Responsibilities
Non-Invasive Cardiology
-
Prepare patients for testing; review labs, medications, and clinical records
-
Monitor equipment and adjust as needed
-
Identify and report EKG abnormalities
-
Supervise stress tests and start IV lines per protocol
-
Prepare and administer Lexiscan and Definity
-
Apply Holter and event monitors; perform Holter scanning
-
Complete clerical tasks including scheduling, phone coverage, and documentation
-
Perform preventive maintenance and maintain department cleanliness
Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation
-
Complete intake, reassessment, and discharge documentation
-
Coordinate care with physicians and staff

Obtain authorizations and insurance extensions
-
Educate patients on RPE, SOB scales, pain scales, and exercise expectations
-
Monitor patient vitals, rhythm changes, blood sugars, and weight
-
Adjust exercise prescriptions based on patient response
-
Prepare exercise rooms, perform daily equipment checks, and participate in team huddles
-
Provide home exercise guidance and equipment recommendations
-
Document patient progress and update individualized treatment plans
