The historic Calumet Theatre is hiring a part-time Office Assistant/Bookkeeper in Calumet, Michigan to help keep the financial and day-to-day office side of the Theatre running smoothly.
This is a great fit for someone who is organized, dependable, comfortable with numbers, and trusted with confidential information. You’ll work behind the scenes as a communication link between the box office, Executive Director, Finance Director, theatre staff, and board members, and help ensure smooth coordination between the back office and box office, including during performances and events.
WHAT WE OFFER.
- $20.00 per hour starting pay.
- Part-time position offering a flexible schedule, approximately 20 hours per week.
WHAT YOU WILL DO.
- Enter bills, invoices, and transactions into QuickBooks.
- Reconcile daily box office deposits with ticket and event revenue.
- Organize and maintain bills, receipts, financial records, and office files.
- Secure and transfer box office funds to the Theatre safe.
- Process mail and routine office documentation.
- Assist with patron refunds and box office financial questions.
- Work with the Finance Director on monthly reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Help coordinate communication between the office, box office, staff, and board.
- Be at shows and events to help ensure funds are handled correctly.
- Keep financial, donor, and patron information confidential.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 6 months of previous office, bookkeeping, cash-handling, or QuickBooks experience is required.
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Accurate and detail-oriented when working with numbers and money.
- Organized, reliable, and able to work independently
- Friendly, professional communication skills.
- Comfortable handling cash and confidential information.
