As the Senior Manager of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME), you will lead the Manufacturing Integration Engineering (MIE) organization and serve as the primary bridge between manufacturing and the business segments. You will translate business strategies, product roadmaps, and customer needs into manufacturing strategies, technology roadmaps, and executable industrialization plans. You will build a consistent, high-performing organization that connects product design, manufacturing technology, operations, supply chain, and business objectives to deliver multiple complex product launches with speed, scalability, quality, and sound economic thinking.
Our Team
The MIE team includes five direct reports: three engineering managers and two technical contributors. The team is primarily based in Rochester Hills, with representation in Mexico and additional global collaboration. We partner with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Procurement, Finance, business segment leaders, and manufacturing technology teams to deliver scalable, cost-effective, and robust manufacturing solutions. Our focus is to strengthen manufacturing capabilities, improve launch execution, and enable profitable growth through modular manufacturing, advanced automation, simulation, and digital technologies.
What You Will Do
Lead, coach, and develop a distributed Manufacturing Integration Engineering organization, building consistent technical, project leadership, and business partnership capabilities.
Serve as the manufacturing bridge to business segment leaders, translating business strategy and product roadmaps into manufacturing strategies and executable industrialization plans.
Own the manufacturing technology roadmap, aligning it with the Business Unit's 5-year strategic plan across assembly, molding, stamping, tooling, automation, simulation, and related technical disciplines.
Lead a portfolio of concurrent new product launches from early product development through process validation, production ramp, and launch stabilization.
Strengthen Design for Manufacturing (DFM), manufacturing readiness, and launch governance practices to improve speed, quality, cost, and predictability.
Establish modular and scalable manufacturing approaches that support multiple products, higher production volumes, localization, and future capacity needs.
Apply sound economic thinking to technology, capital, capacity, automation, and make-versus-buy decisions, balancing near-term execution with long-term value creation.
Partner across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Procurement, Finance, and manufacturing technology teams to provide timely, practical solutions to business needs.
Evaluate and strengthen organizational capabilities, clarify expectations and decision rights, and build technical and leadership depth across the MIE team.
Coordinate technical contributions across the United States, Mexico, and global partners to ensure successful program execution and consistent manufacturing practices.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Progressive experience leading manufacturing engineering, industrialization, manufacturing technology, or operations organizations in a complex manufacturing environment.
Experience leading manufacturing engineering, technical leaders, or multidisciplinary engineering teams and organizational capability development.
Experience developing manufacturing strategies that support business, product, and operational roadmaps.
Experience leading multiple concurrent new product launches and industrialization programs from design through production ramp.
Experience with high-volume assembly manufacturing, automation, process validation, and production systems.
Experience influencing business, product engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, procurement, and finance stakeholders to deliver business results.
Ability to apply economic thinking and lead complex manufacturing initiatives involving technology, capital, capacity, and risk tradeoffs.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
What Will Put You Ahead
Leadership experience within a Tier 1 automotive supplier or a comparably complex, high-volume manufacturing environment with multiple concurrent customer programs.
Experience developing modular, flexible, or scalable manufacturing systems across multiple product platforms.
Experience owning a manufacturing technology roadmap across automation, molding, stamping, tooling, simulation, assembly, or related disciplines.
Experience leading manufacturing teams or programs across the United States and Mexico.
Experience implementing Industry 4.0 technologies, digital manufacturing solutions, advanced automation, or manufacturing simulation.
Experience influencing significant capital investment portfolios and manufacturing transformations.
Advanced degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or a related field.
