In this role, you will serve as a bridge between hardware and software domains, working hands-on with vehicles and Test Development Kits (TDKs). You will utilize debugging tools, perform software updates, and support pre-production HMI quality validation initiatives. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring test environments are properly configured and capable of executing reliable HMI validation testing.
Key Responsibilities
HMI Validation & Testing
- Set up validation requests for HMI, UX, and UI features across vehicle infotainment systems using TDKs and vehicles.
- Perform HMI validation testing and report quality assurance concerns.
- Validate software implementations against design releases.
Vehicle & TDK Configuration
- Utilize in-house diagnostic tools and Android Debug Bridge (ADB) to debug and configure testing environments on vehicles and TDKs.
- Ensure appropriate software levels are flashed and required Diagnostic Identifiers (DIDs) are enabled for HMI testing.
- Set up vehicles and TDKs with appropriate hardware and software configurations to evaluate prototype designs and HMI display content.
Software & Simulation Support
- Collaborate cross-functionally with software teams to set up and execute Python scripts enabling simulation support for:
- HMI testing
- Software download processes
Hardware & Software Integration
- Support hardware and software integration efforts across embedded control units (ECUs).
- Facilitate seamless communication between hardware and software systems.
- Work with prototype hardware configurations to support testing activities.
CAN Network Support
- Utilize CAN hardware for feature signal simulation.
- Record CAN information to support deployment and monitoring of vehicle network signals.
- Send CAN messages and configure system parameters using in-house tools.
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
- Break down complex system issues into fundamental root causes.
- Troubleshoot concerns spanning both hardware and software layers.
- Retest systems to confirm resolution and readiness for HMI testing.
- Review ECU configurations and root-cause issues impacting HMI validation.
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Document software methodologies, processes, and procedures.
- Create and maintain documentation related to vehicle and bench update processes.
- Simplify test procedures and configuration processes through analytical problem-solving.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong understanding of vehicle architecture and communication systems.
- Adapt to changing priorities, evolving test environments, and dynamic project requirements.
- Support prototype hardware integration, including ECU swaps and wire harness modifications when required.
- Occasional travel may be required between Mexico and California.
