Location: Dearborn, MI
Pay Rate: $42.31/hour
Ready to help shape the future of automotive innovation? We are seeking a Design and Release Product Engineer to support the development of vehicle closure systems, including handles, locks, latches, hinges, and mechanical systems used on doors, hoods, liftgates, tailgates, and decklids. This is a hands-on engineering opportunity for professionals who enjoy product development, mechanical design, problem-solving, and working with cross-functional teams.
Job Duties
Lead the design, development, validation, and release of vehicle closure components and mechanisms
Manage product launches, engineering changes, and supplier activities
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing teams
Create and review CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
Conduct design reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities
Support testing, validation, PPAP activities, and production readiness
Ensure products meet cost, quality, durability, safety, and performance targets
Travel occasionally to supplier, testing, and manufacturing facilities
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
2+ years of automotive, manufacturing, or product engineering experience
Experience with mechanical systems, closures, latching systems, seating mechanisms, heavy equipment, aerospace mechanisms, or similar products
Proficiency with CATIA, Teamcenter, CAD software, and Microsoft Office
Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis
Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
