Position Summary:
Pick up and deliver meals from the Detroit Harbor Light location to the Monroe Harbor Light location.
Essential Responsibilities:
Drive van on route making predetermined stops according to schedule
Load and unload meals on the van
Pick up and/or delivery of donated items as assigned
Complete daily maintenance check of van and report problems to designated person
Maintain cleanliness of van while on route and thoroughly clean truck after route is completed
Safely operate vehicle and follow all ruling road
Additional Responsibilities:
Understand and work within The Salvation Army and Harbor Light Mission and Positional Statements
Possess an excellent working knowledge of The Harbor Light policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Ability to get along with people
Dependability
Good communication skills
TB Test and police clearance required
Authorization to work in the United States
Education/Experience:
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills required
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid Michigan Chauffeur license and approved by The Salvation Army MVR
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Ability to bend, reach, stoop and stand for long periods of time
Frequent filling, shifting, and moving of pots and equipment
Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in accordance with the MDOT regulations
Work Environment:
Ability to adapt to rapid temperature changes and work in temperature extremes
Exposure to smoke, steam, cleaning chemical fumes, food allergens, airborne eye, ear, nose, and throat irritants
