The Nursing and Prevention Health Manager, under general direction, chairs, plans, and participates in agency and affiliation leadership teams, committees, and work groups to ensure that clinical standards are met and agency/Public Health mission is carried out. This employee supervises, coaches, mentors, and evaluates program unit leads; promotes staff’s management skills, and advises regarding personnel issues; assesses the strengths and weaknesses of clinical programs and operations and develops processes and/or implements best practice models to address weaknesses. The Nursing and Prevention Health Manager provides vital resources to supervisors and staff including fiscal/budget support, equipment, facilities, support services, and information; communicates essential information to internal and external stakeholders, and performs related work activities as required.
During a public health emergency, may be required to report for specialized assigned duties or perform emergency response roles, inside or outside Muskegon County.
Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
1. Possess a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Nursing, Public Health or Public Administration; AND Have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in Public or Community Health or related field;
OR
Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Nursing; AND Have a minimum of four (4) years of work experience in Public or Community Health or related field.
2. Possess and maintain a license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
3. Possess a valid Michigan driver’s license.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work activity requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
An employee in this class generally works in the Public Health building, though occasional travel to various locations within the County may be required. This employee may be exposed to blood and bodily fluids.

EVALUATION CONTENTThe selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

PURPOSEThe purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
