Systems Engineer
Location: Southfield, MI
Pay: Up to $65/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week
Work Environment: 100% Onsite (flexibility based on performance)
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the development of advanced automotive interior components and systems. This temporary engineering opportunity is ideal for professionals with a strong background in vehicle interior design, product development, manufacturing processes, and supplier collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of automotive interior systems including instrument panels, door panels, consoles, headliners, and trim components.
Create and maintain technical specifications, engineering requirements, and development timelines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.
Support product packaging, engineering releases, validation, and production launch activities.
Drive design-for-manufacturing (DFM) improvements and supplier readiness.
Utilize CAD tools, preferably CATIA V5/V6, for concept development and engineering reviews.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
4+ years of experience developing automotive interior components and systems.
Strong knowledge of interior trim design, manufacturing processes, and supplier capabilities.
Experience with product specifications, program timelines, and launch activities.
Understanding of injection molding, compression forming, lamination, GD&T, and build-to-print engineering.
Experience designing systems with manufacturing feasibility in mind.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting a complete automotive program from concept through production launch.
Knowledge of vehicle safety, ergonomics, materials selection, and structural performance.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
