Homologation Program Planning & Compliance Engineer
Location: Southeast Michigan (Hybrid)
Schedule: 4 Days Onsite / 1 Day Remote
Travel: None Required
Rate: $30-35/HR
Position Overview
We are seeking two motivated engineers to join the Homologation Engineering team supporting vehicle program planning, compliance assessments, and regulatory readiness activities. This role combines engineering, program management, and cross-functional collaboration to help ensure vehicle programs meet global safety and emissions requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who enjoys working across multiple organizations, evaluating the impact of program changes, and driving actions that support regulatory compliance. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to global automotive regulations while helping shape and improve evolving compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate vehicle program changes and assess potential impacts to safety and emissions compliance.
- Review new applications, engineering changes, and program modifications to identify regulatory concerns and compliance risks.
- Escalate compliance-related issues to approval engineers and key stakeholders as needed.
- Support homologation planning and execution activities across assigned vehicle programs.
- Partner with Program Managers, Technical Program Managers (TPMs), Product Development teams, and other stakeholders to evaluate compliance implications of design and content changes.
- Coordinate activities across engineering, testing, and regulatory teams to support program objectives.
- Drive proactive communication and stakeholder engagement across multiple organizations.
- Monitor and communicate program status, risks, and compliance considerations.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and leverage automation tools.
- Assist with the development and refinement of new compliance and homologation planning processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to independently drive actions and work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic program environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in automotive product development, engineering, program management, or related functions.
- Familiarity with automotive safety, emissions, certification, or regulatory compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of global automotive regulations and homologation processes.
- Experience supporting vehicle development programs from concept through launch.
- Exposure to process improvement, workflow automation, or digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with global teams across multiple regions.

Work Environment & Development
- Hybrid work schedule consisting of four onsite days and one remote day per week.

- Occasional collaboration with teams in Europe and South America may require flexibility for meetings across time zones.

The Homologation Engineering Team is responsible for planning, executing, and managing environmental and safety compliance programs that enable vehicle certification for global markets outside the United States. The team partners closely with engineering, testing, product development, and regulatory organizations to ensure vehicles meet applicable requirements and are successfully approved for sale worldwide.
