The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.
- Monitors production plans and provides corrective action as necessary.
- Communicates staffing needs with supervision.
- Monitors, adjusts, and reports inventories.
- Educates associates in proper procedures of company policy, safety and quality issues, and production requirements.
- Monitors machinery and equipment. Writes work orders when necessary.
- Resolves problems logically and effectively. Leads CPR teams to resolution of quality issues.
- Communicates necessary information to associates.
- Eliminates waste through safety, quality, and production improvements.
- Implement new systems and operations.
- Continue focus and improvements in housekeeping through 5’s.
- Monitor required Quality documentation at each specific operation. Insure all applicable checks on inspection sheets, SPC charts, etc. are being properly completed with any applicable notations/comments.
- Participate in applicable “corrective action” activities as deemed essential to plant and customer needs
- Maintains work center schedule by staying within production and shipping scheduling.
- Oversees set-up on work centers ensuring quality performance and proper documentation.
- Conducts weekly department meetings with associates on current issues such as quality, attendance, safety, housekeeping, and production requirements. Answers field questions and notes suggestions as needed.
- Ability to fill out daily production reports on all work centers or train operators to do so.
- Assists in hiring of new associates.
- Handles a variety of issues from all areas of the plant.
- Attends all required training.
- Establishes new work standards and instructions. (Per corporate procedures)
- Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.)
- Able and willing to work any shift assigned, weekends and overtime
- Regular and predictable attendance required
- Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor
Required Skills
- Proven technical ability
- Knowledge of SPC (including the use of mics, calipers, etc.)
- Knowledge of welding processes
- Lean manufacturing experience
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven manufacturing administration skills
- Ability to adapt to and use computers
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
