Position Summary
Evaluates, plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatments for patients with injuries or muscle, nerve, joint and bone conditions. The goal is to improve or restore function, increase strength, relieve pain and enhance functional independence. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program
-
Licensed Physical Therapist in good standing in the State of Michigan

BLS required within 3 months of hire

Current Michigan driver’s license, daily access to a vehicle for business use and proof of insurance required for Bronson at Home
Bronson at Home Requirements: Driving your own vehicle on a regularly scheduled basis to perform business on behalf of Bronson is required. This includes passing an MVR check after an offer is made and before the start date. Proof of valid auto insurance must be submitted and kept current. Employees must update Bronson if a different vehicle will be used for business purposes.

Keyboarding skills to operate a PC or mobile device

Physical Requirements

Work may involve mental and visual fatigue due to varied duties and deadlines

Computer use up to 40 percent of the time

Considerable standing and walking

Regular lifting of objects up to 20 pounds

Occasional assistance with heavier patient lifting or movement

Minor physical strain or fatiguing positions may be required
Clinical Duties
-
Interpret and implement referrals
-
Evaluate functional abilities and disabilities through standardized assessments
-
Establish functional baselines and track progress
-
Participate in interdisciplinary discussions, rounds and clinics
-
Develop education and treatment plans
-
Provide family and community education
-
Set patient care goals and estimate length of treatment
-
Deliver direct patient care through individual or group therapy
-
Facilitate and instruct patients in skills needed for participation
-
Design and fabricate splints or assistive devices as needed
-
Participate in program development and department process improvement
-
Serve as a resource in areas of expertise
-
Provide in-services within the Bronson Rehabilitation System
-
Cross train and provide coverage in other Rehabilitation Services departments as needed
Administrative Duties
-
Document evaluations, treatment plans, treatments performed and patient progress
-
Document in the electronic health record within compliance timelines
-
Communicate limitations that impact timely documentation
-
Maintain accurate, legible and complete records
-
Serve on committees and task forces
-
Participate in process improvement
-
Demonstrate strong time management skills
-
Supervise PTA, Rehab Clinical Assistants, PT students, PTA students, volunteers and athletic trainers
Schedule
