Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Peshtigo, WI is seeking a Casual (PRN) Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the Occupational Therapist in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the Occupational Therapy Services of the facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the Director of Rehab and/or the Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Follow the direction of and collaborate with the Therapist, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern nursing care facilities.
- Meet with O.T.R. and/or D.O.R., medical and nursing staff, as well as other related departments in planning therapy services.
- Assist in the development and maintain Occupational Therapy standards.
- Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of resident care plans, resident assessments in collaboration with the O.T.R., etc. as necessary.
- Work with facility’s consultants as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
- Agree not to disclose resident’s protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator.
- Assist in the implementation of recommendations from established committees as they may pertain to Occupational Therapy services.
- Provide guidance and training for new and/or less experienced personnel as directed by the O.T.R or D.O.R.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
- Participate in the development and implementation of resident assessments (MDS) and care plans, including quarterly reviews.
- Be alert for resident safety during any/all therapy.
- Ensure that the therapy area is maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfort and convenience by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform such duties/services.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned by your supervisor(s).
Qualifications:
- Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of Wisconsin.
- Must be willing to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel (i.e. clerk/aide).
- Professionalism, accuracy, and dependability are essential.
- Position requires good organization skills, independent decision-making and work planning.
Both New Grads and COTAs with experience are welcome to apply. Our ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in the Skilled Nursing setting.
