Position Summary
The Fall/Winter Parks Seasonal Laborer supports seasonal operations throughout City parks and recreation facilities. The typical schedule consists of 10-hour shifts on an eight-days-on, six-days-off rotation, generally from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Scheduling may be adjusted for weather, events, and periods of snowfall.
Responsibilities
Employees perform light janitorial and maintenance work at public park facilities, including cleaning, trash pickup, grounds maintenance, mowing, leaf collection, raking, painting, equipment operation, and event or rental setup.
Primary winter responsibilities include shoveling and snow blowing at school crosswalks and downtown pedestrian areas. Employees also assist with maintenance of outdoor ice rinks and other general labor needs.
The position also assists with event and rental preparation, monitoring, and cleanup and requires courteous interaction with visitors.
Work is physically demanding and includes exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Employees may also refuel vehicles and equipment and must safely handle diesel, two-stroke, unleaded, and similar fuels.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be capable of physically demanding outdoor work.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record when assigned driving duties.
- Successfully complete required pre-employment physical, drug screening, and criminal background check.
- Complete a DOT physical when required for operation of a CMV-rated vehicle.
