Participate in RFQ/RFI processes to develop a preliminary system architecture that aligns with customer specifications, providing comprehensive technical solutions. Provide concept definition. Provide technical guidance for system design and integration engineering activities. Ensure conceptual integrity of system design. Provide engineering support for sales presentations, technical solutions discussions, and product demonstrations with prospective customers. Respond to customer inquiries concerning complex system design approaches and issues. Work with Engineering Program Management to provide feasibility and planning information. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and select components meeting requirements and supporting system performance. Provide technical advice for product/systems roadmap definition based on expert knowledge of ECU specific technologies and customer use cases. Apply the S.I.M.I.L.A.R. systems engineering methodology: Collaborate with customers during program initiation to thoroughly understand the problem space, accurately State the problem, analyze customer requirements, and document them within the ALM tool; Investigate alternatives and Model the system with appropriate models to gain a clear understanding of performance and functionality; Integrate subsystems to develop a fully functioning product; Launch the system to verify its functionality and performance; Assess product performance and Re-evaluate designs, solutions, and data to validate conclusions and ensure requirements are met. Gather, understand, and document customer requirements using ALM tools for clarity and traceability throughout the project. Manage and negotiate customer requirements, change requests, and implicit expectations to maintain alignment. Develop system requirements derived from and traceable to customer specifications, ensuring comprehensive coverage and alignment. Revise and update the system architecture as needed to reflect evolving requirements or insights. Use the preliminary system architecture to verify that all requirements are adequately addressed and satisfied. Update the System architecture as necessary to meet System needs. Use Enterprise Architect (EA) to produce clear, comprehensive documentation of the system architecture for cross-disciplinary understanding. Create and maintain key project documents, including System Requirements Specification, System Architecture Definition, and Test Plan. Lead cross-functional requirements reviews to ensure understanding and consensus. Collaborate with the customer to develop the system-level DFMEA, identifying potential failure modes and mitigation strategies. Coordinate with manufacturing and software teams to establish detailed interface requirements, including EOL and module programming specs. Support development of discipline-specific design documentation, interface specifications, 8D reports, timing plans, and other artifacts. Conduct system testing on bench and in vehicle environments to validate functionality against customer requirements. Take ownership of defect analysis and root cause investigations, engaging with suppliers to resolve issues effectively. Proactively pursue cost reduction and process improvements across the product lifecycle.
