The Complex Manager is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, safety, and administration of the ice & turf arenas. This position oversees daily operations, staff supervision, facility maintenance, customer service, maintains ice quality, and ensures a safe and enjoyable environment for skaters, hockey organizations, figure skating clubs, and the general public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the ice and turf arenas.
- Ensure the facility is clean, safe, and properly maintained and welcoming for all visitors.
- Monitor ice quality and coordinate resurfacing schedules.
- Open and close the facility as required.
Staff Management
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate rink employees.
- Develop employee work schedules.
- Ensure staff follows safety procedures and customer service standards.
Ice & Facility Maintenance
- Knowledge of ice making equipment and refrigeration systems
- Operate Zamboni and other ice maintenance equipment
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Monitor facility systems to ensure efficient operation.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate with contractors for specialized repairs when necessary.
- Ensure cleanliness of ice and turf arenas.
Customer Service
- Address customer questions, concerns, and complaints professionally.
- Maintain positive relationships with user groups, leagues, schools, and community organizations.
- Promote a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Knowledge of ice-making and refrigeration systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot facility equipment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently walk, stand, bend, lift, and climb stairs.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work in cold temperatures for extended periods.
- Respond to emergencies outside normal business hours when necessary.
Working Conditions
- Evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular hours are frequently required.
- Seasonal work from September to June
