Job Title: Principal Software Engineer
Work Location: Southfield, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Design, develop, integrate, validate, and optimize embedded software for automotive infotainment systems across Android, Linux, and QNX environments; perform deep-level debugging and root-cause analysis; maintain CI/CD automation; and provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentorship, and Scrum facilitation.
- Software Architecture & Development
- Design, develop, and optimize embedded software for automotive infotainment systems, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Audio, Multimedia, Android Auto, and CarPlay on the Android platform.
- Implement system-level features using C, C++, Java, and Python across Android, Linux, and QNX RTOS environments; port and integrate software modules including HAL layers, drivers, and middleware.
- Collaborate with engineering and verification teams to align development with project objectives and timing.
- System Integration & Debugging
- Perform deep-level debugging and root-cause analysis of infotainment and connectivity issues using ADB, CAN analyzers, MOST, SPI, and I2C tools.
- Integrate and debug third-party automotive software modules; triage field, factory, and development issues and provide rapid solutions.
- Validation, Optimization & CI/CD
- Integrate software from OEMs and automotive suppliers into unified infotainment platforms; optimize memory, CPU, and storage performance.
- Develop and maintain automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and KPI monitoring tools; ensure adherence to coding standards and quality metrics.
- Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide architectural guidance to engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and mentorship; act as Scrum Master, facilitating sprint planning and stand-ups.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives, including log sanitization and access control per IVI standards; communicate technical progress and risks to OEM stakeholders.
Knowledge & Skills Applied:
- Embedded software development for automotive infotainment systems.
- Android platform framework development; Android Automotive OS, AOSP, Audio HAL, ALSA.
- Embedded driver development in C, C++, and Java on Linux or QNX RTOS; kernel programming, BSP development.
- Third-party automotive module integration and debugging.
- Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Android Auto, Wireless CarPlay; CAN, MOST, I2C, SPI protocols.
- CI/CD automation; GIT, Jenkins, Gerrit, JIRA; DevOps, automation framework development.
- Agile/Scrum methodology; Scrum Master; multithreading; Python, C#.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Applications, or Computer Engineering, or foreign equivalent + 3 years of experience
