Tire Technician

What You'll Do
Tire Services
- Mounting, Balancing & Installation: Mount, dismount, balance, and install tires for passenger, light truck, SUV, and commercial vehicles. Ensure proper torque specs and safety standards are met.
- Repair & Maintenance: Diagnose tire issues, perform puncture repairs, replace valve stems, and service TPMS sensors. Clean hubs and wheels for corrosion to guarantee a proper seal. Be knowledgeable about batteries and battery installation.
- Rotations & Seasonal Changeovers: Rotate tires to maximize tread life and perform seasonal swaps (summer/winter). Properly label and store customer tires with care.
- Inspection & Evaluation: Check tires for tread depth, wear patterns, sidewall damage, and leaks. Provide clear, professional explanations of findings to customers. Be able to identify loose or broken parts on the customers as a heads up and safety concern.
- Wheel & Rim Services: Inspect wheels for cracks, bends, or corrosion; prep wheel surfaces before mounting; assist with balancing and alignment-related checks. Understand lug nuts and how they can be too tight or too loose.
- Customer Support: Explain tire options, service recommendations, and results of inspections in an approachable and confident manner.
- Safety & Standards: Follow U.P. Tire's strict safety policies, maintain a clean work area, and set an example of professionalism on the shop floor.
General Duties
- Follow all company safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain shop cleanliness and organization.
- Assist with inventory, shop support, and other duties as assigned.
- Deliver an excellent customer experience with every interaction.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous tire or automotive service experience preferred, but not required (training provided).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and safe tool-handling skills.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, approachable demeanor as well as well mannered and respectful.
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, and dependable.
