AV Install Technician Lead
About the Role
We're seeking an experienced AV Install Technician Lead to lead the installation of commercial audiovisual systems for corporate, education, healthcare, and other commercial environments.
We're looking for someone with hands-on commercial AV integration experience who can step into a field leadership position with minimal training.
As the Lead Technician, you'll serve as the on-site leader, coordinating installation activities, working alongside Project Managers and other trades, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead commercial AV installation projects from start to finish in the field.
- Serve as the on-site lead for installation crews.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, AV schematics, and installation documents.
- Coordinate installation activities with electricians, general contractors, and other trades.
- Organize daily job site activities and ensure materials are available when needed.
- Install, terminate, test, and commission commercial AV systems.
- Troubleshoot installation and system issues during deployment.
- Support basic AV system programming and configuration.
- Ensure projects stay on schedule while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Communicate project updates with Project Managers and Installation Managers.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial AV integration/installation experience.
- Experience leading commercial AV installation projects in the field.
- Ability to read construction drawings and AV system documentation.
- Experience coordinating work with multiple construction trades.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to take ownership of projects and lead installation crews.
Experience with one or more of the following:
- Crestron
- Q-SYS
- Viam
- Symetrix
- Yealink
Basic AV programming knowledge is expected.
Preferred Qualifications
- CTS certification (preferred but not required).
- Experience with multiple commercial AV manufacturers.
- Audio systems experience.
- Background in permanent AV integration.
- Live events experience transitioning into commercial AV integration.
