| Summary of Position: | The School of Design and Manufacturing invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program. Position requires teaching undergraduate-level lecture and laboratory coursework in a "hands-on" academic environment. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis.
Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses or approved FSU sites. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site.
The anticipated start date of this position is August 2026 at the earliest and January 2027 at the latest.
The selected candidate for this position must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship now or in the future. The university will not assist with any F-1 EADs, OPT, H-1 B, etc. | |

| Required Education: | The standard to teach college credit courses at the associate degree level (1XX, 2XX) shall be the bachelor's (or higher) degree in the field or a closely related area.
The standard to teach college credit courses at the baccalaureate level (3XX, 4XX) shall be the master's degree in a field or a closely related area, or a master's degree and 18 graduate hours in thefield.
The standard to teach college credit courses at the graduate level shall be a terminal degree in the field or a closely related area, or a practice terminal qualification as defined by the college faculty qualification guideline.
The following combinations of education and experience shall be considered qualifying tested experience to teach at the associate's level (1xx, 2xx). The experience considered shall comply with the quality and nature of the tested experience defined above.
• a bachelor's degree or higher out of the field, an associate's degree in the field, and 5 years of relevant industry experience. • a bachelor's degree out of field and 7 years of relevant industry experience. • an associate's degree in the field and 7 years of relevant industry experience
The following combinations of education and experience shall be considered qualifying tested experience to teach at the baccalaureate level (3xx,4xx). The experience considered shall comply with the quality and nature of the tested experience defined above. • a master's or higher-level degree out of field with at least one bachelor's or associate's degree in the field and 5 years of relevant industry experience directly related to thecourse taught. • A bachelor's degree in the field and 7 years of relevant industry experience directly related to the course taught; or an associate's degree in the field, and any baccalaureate degree, and 7 years of relevant industry experience.
Faculty Qualification by Tested Experience: Tested experience may include discipline-specific certifications, licensure, and/or other approved non-degree credentials, and possess a breadth and depth of experience outside of the classroom in real-world situations relevant to the discipline or subfield for the specific course or courses they will teach.
Quality and Nature of Tested Experience: The quality and nature of the tested experience shall be at a professional level; demonstrate the integration and application of an appropriate body of knowledge; illustrate a progressive level of applied knowledge and responsible charge of professional work. The experience shall illustrate professional expertise at a level to be foundational to the development of professional judgment that safeguards public property and life safety. The experience shall relate directly to the content of the course taught. The experience shall be documented. It should be noted that experience teaching in the discipline does not count toward tested experience. | |
