SAP Functional Consultant
Location: Ann Arbor, MI
Schedule: Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite per week required
Employment type: Contract
Overview
We are seeking an experienced SAP Functional Consultant with deep expertise in SAP Sales & Distribution (SD) and Materials Management (MM) to support a variety of business-critical initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing and technology environment.
This is a hands-on functional role for someone who can independently gather requirements, perform configuration, conduct testing, and partner directly with business stakeholders. In addition to SD/MM experience, candidates must have exposure to SAP-driven analytics initiatives and be comfortable translating reporting and analytics requirements into functional solutions.
This is not an architecture, development, or support-only position. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments and can manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner directly with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements
- Lead blueprinting, fit-gap analysis, and solution design sessions
- Configure SAP SD and MM modules to support business processes and project objectives
- Create functional specifications and coordinate with technical development teams as needed
- Support SAP-based analytics and reporting initiatives by translating business requirements into functional solutions
- Oversee solution development and validation to ensure business requirements are met
- Develop and execute functional testing strategies, test scripts, and user acceptance testing support
- Troubleshoot process and system issues across SD and MM areas
- Support multiple simultaneous projects and enhancement efforts
- Present recommendations and project updates to business and technology stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of combined SAP SD and MM functional consulting experience
- Hands-on configuration experience within both SAP SD and SAP MM
- Proven experience leading blueprinting, fit-gap analysis, and requirements gathering activities
- Experience supporting end-to-end SAP implementations, enhancements, and business transformation initiatives
- Demonstrated experience with SAP-based analytics or reporting projects
- Strong understanding of translating business reporting requirements into functional specifications
- Ability to oversee analytics solution delivery and validation efforts
- Strong business-facing communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Experience working directly with U.S.-based stakeholders and project teams
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within manufacturing, high-tech, or industrial organizations
- Semiconductor industry experience is a plus
- Experience supporting complex supply chain, order management, procurement, or inventory processes
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements
