Position Summary
Seeking dependable and hardworking General Labor Packers for its Romulus production facility.
The General Labor Packer inspects, sorts, grades, packages, and labels fresh vegetables according to customer orders, food-safety requirements, and quality standards. Packers are responsible for handling produce carefully, maintaining a clean work area, and meeting production and efficiency expectations.
This is an entry-level opportunity. A high school diploma or GED is not required, although it is preferred. Previous warehouse, packing, food-production, or manufacturing experience is also preferred but not required.
Essential Responsibilities

Visually inspect and handle fresh vegetables.

Sort and grade produce based on size, ripeness, quality, and product classification.

Place produce into the correct containers according to customer specifications.

Apply or verify accurate labels and packaging.
-
Inspect produce and packaging for contamination, pests, foreign materials, damage, or quality concerns.

Immediately report contamination, damaged products, shortages, or packaging problems to authorized personnel.

Handle produce carefully to prevent bruising, crushing, or other damage.
-
Meet production, food-safety, quality, and packing standards established by Line Leaders and Supervisors.

Communicate regularly with the Production Supervisor regarding quality concerns, damaged products, and shortages.

Clean and sanitize food-contact surfaces, equipment, machines, and production areas.

Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the shift.

Report damaged equipment or mechanical concerns to authorized personnel.

Follow standard operating procedures and company policies.

Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, food-safety standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.

Support production and packing operations as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

No high school diploma or GED required.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education preferred.

No previous packing or production experience required.

Must be willing and able to learn packing, grading, labeling, sanitation, and food-safety procedures.

Must be dependable and able to report to work on time.

Previous experience in food production, packing, manufacturing, warehousing, agriculture, or general labor.

Experience inspecting, sorting, grading, packing, or labeling products.

Hours and Work Schedule
This is a full-time hourly position. Exact shifts and start times are assigned according to production schedules and business needs.
Applicants should be prepared for:
