Senior Construction Engineering Inspector - Direct Hire
Location: Rochester Hills, MI (Hybrid/Field-Based Opportunities Across Metro Detroit & West Michigan)
Pay: $25-$40+ per hour (based on experience) + Overtime & Bonus Potential
We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Engineering Inspector to support transportation and infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, and underground utilities. This is a great opportunity for professionals with strong construction inspection, QA/QC, and field engineering experience looking for long-term career growth.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect roadway, bridge, and utility construction to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
Read and interpret engineering drawings, contract documents, and technical specifications
Monitor contractor work and verify material quality, quantities, and testing requirements
Prepare and review daily inspection reports using FieldBook or similar tools
Collaborate with project teams, engineers, and contractors to resolve issues
Identify deficiencies and support corrective actions to maintain quality standards
Qualifications
5+ years of construction inspection experience (roadway and/or bridge projects)
Knowledge of state and federal construction standards and QA/QC practices
Strong skills in plan reading, documentation, and field reporting
Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel, Word, and inspection software
Valid driver's license and ability to work in outdoor environments
Relevant certifications (MDOT, SESC, ACI, HMA, etc.) preferred
Work Environment
Hybrid schedule with significant field-based work
Monday-Friday schedule with overtime opportunities
Travel may be required based on project needs
