Senior Mobile Engineer (iOS/Android)Position Overview
Employees in this role are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and products that meet customer needs. The position involves participation in the entire software development lifecycle, including software architecture, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization.
This individual will work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver user-centric mobile applications while leveraging modern software engineering practices, security standards, and emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to deeply understand their use cases, pain points, and requirements, demonstrating empathy and advocating for user-centric software solutions.
- Solve complex business and technical problems by designing, developing, and delivering software using various tools, programming languages, frameworks, methodologies (including Agile), and technologies.
- Assess application and service requirements to determine the most appropriate technology stack, integration strategy, deployment approach, and overall solution design.
- Create high-level software architecture designs that define the application's structure, components, interfaces, and interactions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including product owners, designers, architects, and other engineering teams.
- Define and implement software testing strategies, guidelines, policies, and processes aligned with organizational objectives, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Continuously improve application performance, optimize solutions, and evaluate new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
- Apply modern engineering practices, including:
- Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Continuous Integration (CI)
- Continuous Delivery (CD)
- Support software security practices to safeguard user data through techniques such as encryption and anonymization.
- Design and develop user-friendly, interactive application interfaces.
- Develop and maintain native mobile applications.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies and capabilities while contributing to solutions across new technology stack layers, often involving industry collaboration.
Required Skills
Required ExperienceSenior Mobile Engineer
- 10+ years of overall IT experience.
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Practical experience in two programming languages, or advanced practical expertise in one programming language.
- Experience guiding and mentoring other developers.
Preferred Experience
- 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in native iOS or Android application development.
- 6+ years of experience with:
- Swift and the iOS application development ecosystem, or
- Kotlin and the Android application development ecosystem.
- 3+ years of experience in mobile frontend application architecture, including:
- Modular application design
- State management
- Navigation strategies

Work Arrangement
Hybrid (Preferred):
- Candidates located in Southeast Michigan are required to work onsite four (4) days per week.
Remote Option:
- For the right candidate located outside Southeast Michigan, the client is open to a fully remote arrangement.
