Position Summary
Pomeroy Living Northville is seeking a dependable and passionate Cook / Dietary Cook to join its culinary team. This position prepares meals for senior residents while focusing on food quality, presentation, safety, and resident satisfaction.
The Cook may also help lead kitchen operations and supervise the dietary department in the absence of the Chef. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys cooking, working in a team environment, and making a meaningful impact through food service.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare food and meals for residents according to daily menus and meal service needs.

Plan food production to coordinate with scheduled meal serving hours.

Follow standard recipes, portion guidelines, and special diet orders.

Prepare meals that meet quality, taste, presentation, and resident satisfaction standards.

Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

Follow sanitation, food safety, and food production codes.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.

Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, appliances, and work areas.

Assist with food prep, cooking, plating, serving support, and kitchen cleanup.

Communicate professionally with culinary staff, dining staff, residents, and supervisors.

Support dietary department operations in the absence of the Chef.

Follow company policies, safety procedures, and infection control guidelines.

Assist with inventory, supplies, and kitchen organization as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
-
Previous experience in cooking, culinary arts, food service, dietary services, or a related field preferred.

Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques required.

Strong attention to detail required.

Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Ability to work well as part of a team.

Must be dependable, professional, and able to follow instructions.

Must be able to follow recipes, menus, and special diet orders.

Must be able to complete required onboarding, background checks, and training.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience cooking in senior living, assisted living, healthcare, long-term care, hospital, school, cafeteria, restaurant, or institutional food service.

Experience preparing meals for individuals with special diets or modified textures.

ServSafe certification or food handler training preferred.

Experience supporting kitchen leadership or supervising dietary staff is helpful.

Strong time management, teamwork, and communication skills.
