Overview
The Costing Analyst oversees development and management of product costs: material cost, conversion cost, manufacturing equipment requirements, labor requirements, cycle times, tooling and capital requirements for new business or changes to current business.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop quotations that will be submitted to OEM customers through business units
- Develop risks/opportunities with each quote
- Review complex bill of materials for reasonableness
- Review manufacturing assumptions for reasonableness
- Effectively communicate cost data to the organization
- Develop rates for manufacturing plants
- Analyze cost variance and financial metrics
- Support purchasing negotiate prices with suppliers as required and provide cost targets for purchased components
- Provide product cost reduction estimates as required
- Actively contribute to departmental initiatives/process improvements to enhance the overall department’s effectiveness
- Work on special projects, as needed
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business or Operations or Engineering
- 1-3 years’ experience in Finance or Operations or Manufacturing or Engineering or Purchasing in the Automotive Industry
- Strong computer skills, i.e., Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Self-motivated and eager to learn
- Interest in understanding both the financial and technical side of operations and manufacturing
- Demonstrated experience as a value-added team member
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work cross-functionally across the organization
- Occasional travel required
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration
- Intern experience within the Automotive Industry
- Foreign language skills
