We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, to help them achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create a cohesive and supportive educational experience.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to address the diverse needs of students with varying abilities.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional techniques and strategies as needed.
- Create a positive and respectful classroom environment that fosters inclusion and encourages students to take risks in their learning.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student performance, behavior, and progress toward IEP goals.
- Provide ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and successes.
- Participate and lead IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Stay updated on best practices and legal requirements related to special education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification/license in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Strong understanding of various disabilities and the impact on learning.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to advocating for and supporting students with diverse needs.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive teaching methods.
- Experience in behavior management and intervention strategies.
- Familiarity with specialized curricula and instructional resources.
