Procures and launches new and major programs for controls engineering. Maintains working contacts with vendors, GM IT, other internal engineering disciplines, and management at plant and headquarters. Diagnoses and corrects deficiencies in manufacturing processes. Stays abreast of new controls technology, including robotics, computer graphics, and computer controls (CNC, PLC, PC, HMI, networks). Supports deployment of new technology to minimize risks. Evaluates manufacturing processes and equipment. Performs simultaneous engineering activities with ME and equipment supplier representatives. Supports the development of ME error proofing plans. Participates in safety g-Risk activities with cross functional group. Supports approval controls drawings and conducts controls run-offs at OEM site. Solves and assists operational problems. Supports and actively interacts with manufacturing operations group. Supports deployment of best common systems and methods as defined in the PT Global Controls Bill of Process.
