JOB TITLE: SEASONAL SUPERVISOR
(8 month position, March 1 – October 30)
RATE OF PAY: $23.78/hour entry level progressing to $27.12/hour after 3 years (PB05)

This full-time position (with health care during period of employment) is included in the Teamsters/B.C.A.M.P.S. unit, although membership in the union is voluntary.
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Manager, performs work of moderate difficulty in supervision of and participation in mosquito control field operations during the treatment season. Responsible for the quantity and quality of work that is performed by field crews. Supervisor must effectively communicate and coordinate with other staff as well as general public. May be assigned to day or evening shifts. Required to work varying work hours, shifts, and overtime as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervises work crews of a varying number and responsible for their work performance.
2. Assists in training seasonal staff on pesticide application, equipment use, and maintenance.
3. Accountable for implementing and enforcing established safety procedures.
4. Schedules and assigns work assignments for seasonal staff.
5. Monitors conduct and abilities of field personnel and provides evaluations
6. Updates maps and fleet routes.
7. Troubleshoots equipment issues.
8. Handles complaints and concerns from the general public and works with them in resolving their mosquito-related problems.
9. Assists in public outreach.
10. Attends professional conferences and workshops to stay current on new technologies.
11. Punctual and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
12. Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a scientific, environmental, technical, or technology-focused field relevant to mosquito control operations preferred. Must have a successful record of supervisory abilities, capability of working with minimal supervision, and exercising good judgment. Experience in mosquito control with knowledge of regulations, procedures, application methods and equipment maintenance preferred. Must possess proficient computer (Microsoft Office) and technology skills. Ability to troubleshoot technology-related issues involving computers, mobile devices, software applications, and related field technology is highly desirable; working knowledge of GIS mapping is desirable. Ability to deal with the public and subordinates courteously and tactfully. Must possess excellent verbal, written, and social skills and the ability to make presentations to community groups, at training sessions, and/or committee meetings. Must be able to obtain a Certified Pesticide Applicator’s License (7F) within 30 days and possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license. Applicants may be required to take written and/or other examinations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: This position works in both an office setting and outdoors under varied weather conditions. Must be able to traverse rough terrain and lift up to 50 pounds. The employee will work near mechanized equipment and be exposed to pesticides.
