Our client is looking for a Teradata Architect to serve as a platform administrator for the EDW, consisting of 3 distinct platforms (Production, Development/Disaster Recovery, and Test). Candidate will provide enterprise data warehousing services to executive branch department as well as the State Court Administrator Offices statewide.
A total of 7 departments are supported, with a user base of over 10,000 and 40 Terabytes of data. This position researches and coordinates long term strategies with all current and potential users, management and vendor personnel.
The Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) service offered provides customers with the ability to conduct high performance analytics, data mining activities, and enhanced decision support capabilities. Currently, the EDW service employs Teradata technology.
Contract: 1 year
Tasks
- Defines the technical planning, implementation plan, and delivery of the EDW platform services and supporting technologies to meet the State of Michigan’s business requirements and objectives.
- This includes vendor communication, trouble reporting, escalated troubleshooting, and release/patch management.
- Responsible for providing operating system guidance along with EDW security expertise for the systems as well as advising the Agencies on disaster recovery planning strategies related to the EDW and their business applications.
- Responsible for platform performance monitoring and resolving performance issues.
- Direct technical expertise to department DBAs and specialists across the enterprise.
NOTES: Local candidates ONLY. Candidates must be located in Michigan within 1 hour of Lansing, MI . Relocation not allowed.
Resource will be working a hybrid schedule. NO REMOTE ONLY OPTION. Will need to be onsite from day 1, two days a week. (Required onsite days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays but this is subject to change.)
Skills Required:
8+ years of experience in the following:
- Experience with Teradata database
- Experience with Teradata Tools and Utilities (TTU)
- Experience with Teradata backup & recovery
- Performance tuning and resource optimization
- Extract Transform Load (ETL)
- Upgrades, provisioning, software maintenance, scripting – BASH, Perl, Python, Glink
- Experience with Teradata ecosystem health monitoring
- Experience with Teradata node management & Teradata Viewpoint administration
- Experience with PSIM (Platform Service Intelligent Monitoring) administration
- Experience with Teradata vendor upgrades, Teradata vendor upgrades, Teradata backup & recovery, Statistics, Audits & security plans
- Experience with Performance tuning and resource optimization
- Experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL)
- Unix/Linux knowledge
- Experience with Cloud computing fundamentals, resource allocation, networking, preferably MS Azure
- Experience with Federal requirements – NIST 800-53, IRS Pub 1075, SSA, Medicaid, etc.
- Experience with Audits & security plans
