Job Summary: The Student Support Specialist assists in providing multi-tiered systems of support to students. The assistant works directly with students who have a variety of needs. Some of the responsibilities include providing one-on-one or small group instruction, supporting intervention strategies, and collecting data on student progress.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Positive attitude and rapport with students
- Ability to work cooperatively with teachers and students
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience as an instructional assistant
- Experience working with at-risk students
Job Description:
- Check-in and connect with at-risk students regarding their academic progress, attendance, and behavior
- Run interventions during the day that support academic growth
- Run credit recovery programs after each trimester
- Work collaborative as member of building Multi-Tiered Systems and Support (MTSS) team
- Responsible for maintaining confidentiality for all school-related information
- Shall perform other duties as assigned by the principal
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- This position may require long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
- The position may require occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day.
- Work may take place both indoors and outdoors, with the possibility of some travel to other schools or field trip locations.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:40 am to 2:40 pm 6.50 hours daily, 32.50 hours weekly, August to June
Salary:
$14.46 per hour
