Position Summary
Northwestern Michigan College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach Automotive Manual Drivelines (AT180), with potential opportunities to teach additional automotive courses in the future. The instructor will prepare and deliver instruction, evaluate student performance, maintain academic records, and support student success while advancing the mission of NMC and the Technical Academic Area.
Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, hybrid, online, or livestream instruction.
Required Qualifications
-
Six years of experience in the automotive manual driveline field, including:
-
Standard transmissions
-
Transfer cases
-
Electronic AWD systems
-
Electronic traction control systems
-
Differential gear setup and repair
-
Modern electronic diagnostic equipment
-
Certification in Manual Drivelines.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Ten years of automotive repair experience.

ASE Master Certification.
-
Specialty expertise in automotive heating and air conditioning.

College degree or certificate in automotive repair.
Primary Responsibilities
Teaching & Instruction
-
Teach Automotive Manual Drivelines (AT180).
-
Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
-
Deliver classroom and laboratory instruction.
-
Assess student learning through exams, projects, presentations, and other methods.

Maintain accurate academic records and gradebooks.
-
Use Moodle and other instructional technologies.
-
Provide course syllabi and learning outcomes information.
Student Support

Encourage active participation and engagement.
-
Provide academic guidance and feedback.

Make reasonable accommodations for students when approved through Disability Support Services.

Maintain compliance with FERPA requirements.
Professional Responsibilities

Complete required faculty training.
