We are hiring a highly skilled HR Specialist - Attendance & Leave to support a fast-paced manufacturing facility in Wayne, MI. This temporary role is ideal for experienced HR and Labor Relations professionals with strong knowledge of attendance programs, union environments, and employee relations.
Key Responsibilities
Administer the National Attendance Program (NAP) in compliance with UAW Collective Bargaining Agreements and company policies
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for attendance, FMLA, medical leaves, and bereavement
Conduct corrective action hearings and issue progressive discipline, up to termination
Audit timekeeping systems (TWOS) to ensure accurate attendance and leave coding
Partner with UAW representatives and operations leaders to resolve attendance issues and grievances
Analyze attendance data and trends to improve workforce reliability
Manage documentation to support labor relations and legal compliance
Facilitate job abandonment processes and employee offboarding
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in HR, Labor Relations, Business, or related field
Experience in union manufacturing environments and labor relations preferred
Strong conflict resolution, communication, and documentation skills
Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, HRIS systems, and timekeeping tools (SAP, Kronos, Oracle, etc.)
Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills
