LeClaire GeoServices is looking for an experienced CAD Drafter who knows land surveying, understands Civil 3D, and can turn field data into clean, accurate survey documents with limited direction once project scope and field data are provided.
This is a remote, 1099 independent contractor opportunity for someone who can work from anywhere in the United States and consistently provide high-quality drafting deliverables by agreed-upon project deadlines.
SCOPE OF WORK.
- Prepare drafting deliverables using CAD drawing files provided by LeClaire GeoServices’ project contact. These files will include completed boundary calculations, along with project instructions and notes to be included in the final product.
- Use AutoDesk Civil 3D to prepare professional land surveying documents.
- Prepare boundary survey plats, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, and other survey-related deliverables.
- Produce accurate, organized documents that meet agreed-upon project requirements.
- Complete assigned deliverables within the agreed project timeline, typically two weeks or less once field data is provided.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.
- Experience matters most. You do not need to be a licensed surveyor, but you should have at least 3 years of CAD drafting experience, strong working knowledge of land surveying concepts, and confidence preparing survey, civil, site, or construction-related drawings in AutoDesk Civil 3D.
- Ability to put together boundary survey plats in accordance with Michigan Act 132.
- Ability to produce documents that meet ALTA/NSPS standards.
- Ability to produce accurate topographic surveys.
- Strong understanding of survey drafting workflows, field data, point files, surfaces, contours, plats, and related deliverables.
- Your own reliable computer, Civil 3D software access, and internet connection.
- Ability to produce accurate, well-organized files and deliverables that meet project and survey standards.
- Clear communication and the ability to meet agreed-upon deadlines.
- Experience with legal descriptions, construction staking, GPS machine control, photogrammetry, or 3D modeling deliverables is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as a 1099 independent contractor (not an employee) in a fully remote role from anywhere in the United States.
COMPENSATION. Contractor compensation is typically $35–$50 per hour or may be project-based, depending on project scope, complexity, experience, and agreed-upon terms. No taxes are withheld, and this role does not include employee benefits.
