Description
Grand Rapids Community College is seeking Adjunct Faculty to teach Chemistry courses. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, student success, and supporting a diverse community college student population.
Key Responsibilities
• Teach Chemistry courses assigned by the Physical Science Department
• Follow departmental syllabus templates and required course materials
• Meet scheduled classes and instructional requirements
• Clearly communicate course objectives and grading criteria
• Create an engaging and academically rigorous learning environment
• Maintain accurate student records and submit grades on time
• Provide reasonable accommodations in accordance with ADA requirements
• Comply with FERPA and institutional policies
• Respond to student communications in a timely manner
• Utilize instructional technologies and learning management systems
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree in Chemistry from an accredited institution, or
• Master's degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Chemistry
Preferred Qualifications
• Community college teaching experience
• Experience working with adult learners and diverse student populations
Required Skills
• Strong subject matter expertise in Chemistry
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse students and colleagues
• Proficiency with instructional technology and learning management systems such as Canvas, Blackboard, and Gmail
• Commitment to student success and continuous professional development
Work Environment
• Evening work may be required for grading, preparation, and student communication
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
• Fast-paced environment requiring adaptability and flexibility

• Adjunct teaching assignments are determined on a semester-by-semester basis
