Schedule:
Full Time: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday – Friday
Position Summary:
The Consumables Scientific Glass Blower II is an hourly position fabricating, modifying, and repairing experimental and laboratory glass products.
Position Responsibilities:
- Glassblowing requires handling and working with flammable and non-flammable high pressure compressed gases
- Torches and burners are used on both mechanical and manual operations
- The work environment may be warmer than average
- The majority of the work weighs less than 30 lbs., but must be lifted and maneuvered
Position Requirements:
- This position requires a good working knowledge of: the physical and chemical properties of glasses used; blueprints; shop mathematics (both metric and decimal systems); the processes needed to work glass using a variety of machines and tools common to the trade
- Able to fabricate and repair complicated glassware structures by cutting, drilling and heating glass until pliable and shaping to specific dimensions
- Able to program and operate computerized lathe
- Knowledgeable in departmental and company quality processes including D-22 Process sheets
Education/Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
