Ready to own safety-critical systems on vehicles used by millions? Advantage Technical is placing a Senior Design Release Engineer with a leading global automotive OEM in Southfield, MI - where your work on emergency call and telematics architecture will directly impact lives.
What You'll Do (Job Duties)
Own Automotive Emergency Call (eCall) system features end-to-end: Automatic Crash Notification (ACN), manual SOS, Minimum Set of Data (MSD) generation/transmission, crash-to-call workflows
Define system architecture across telematics Electronic Control Unit (ECUs), Restraint Control Module (RCM), Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and communication modules
Lead CAN/Ethernet interface design between RCM and telematics units; define Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) communication protocols
Ensure compliance with the following eCall Regulations and Standards: ECE R144, EN 15722, EN 16072, and NG-eCall standards
Execute validation plans: call success rates, MSD accuracy, network performance
Provide sustaining engineering support for legacy RCM systems
Manage Tier 1 suppliers; serve as primary technical interface for eCall deliverables
Drive feature milestones, track integration risks, and lead root cause/corrective action on failures
What You Bring (Requirements and Qualifications)
Experience with eCall, telematics systems, or crash notification architectures
Strong grasp of vehicle network architectures (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
Familiarity with ECE R144, EN 15722, ISO 26262, and homologation processes
Background in RCM or passive safety systems (a plus)
Experience with requirements tools (DOORS, Jama, Polarion) preferred
BS in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
