Job Description

Performs supervisory work and actively participates in activities involved in the operation, maintenance and repair of municipal facilities and equipment; performs related duties as required.
1.Supervises and participates in the operation, maintenance, repair, alterations and remodeling of the Municipal Building, Fire Stations, Community Centers, 12th Street Yards and Police Department facilities. Assists in supervising maintenance and custodial staff.2.Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical rooms including performing a variety of mechanical and electrical repairs on motors, pumps, compressors, elevators, automatic controllers, sensors, actuators, pneumatic controls, and other equipment.3.Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of gas fired hot water boilers used for heating and air conditioning.4.Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, and specifications; plans and schedules work while estimating required materials and supplies; develops work plans to maximize the efficient use of staff and resources; and inspects work both in progress and upon completion.5.Inspects City facilities to identify needed repairs and inspect custodial work for quality and compliance. Identifies and recommends solutions for repairs and custodial improvements.6.Trains maintenance and custodial staff across all phases of their assigned duties. Recommends training procedures and provides instruction to employees on safety rules and precautions related to the operation and maintenance of all equipment. 7.Prepares reports on work activities, performance, and equipment, and maintains required records. Provides recommendations regarding budgetary needs.8.Conducts interviews with job candidates and completes performance evaluations for maintenance and custodial staff. May consult with employees and/or representatives to resolve workplace grievances and recommend disciplinary action for subordinate employees.9.Performs related duties as required.
