Department Summary
The Maintenance & Construction Scheduling Team supports Electric and Gas Distribution Operations by planning and
scheduling field employees with maintenance and construction work. The team receives designs and work requests from
multiple departments, which may include customer requested work, compliance / regulatory work, emergent work, and
system reliability / integrity work. Through planning of resources, materials and associated equipment, work is organized
and prioritized to create a timely and quality schedule that accomplishes operational goals such as commitments met,
productivity, and first time completion. Schedules are built using T minus work management philosophy and
communicated to all necessary stakeholders (field employees, planners, designers, etc.).
Job Description/Responsibilities
The Resource Scheduler position uses the T minus work management philosophy to build a comprehensive schedule
from T-4 to T-2 ensuring all work is construction-ready and workload is balanced with available capacity. In order to
achieve that balance, the Resource Scheduler will maintain awareness of multiple headquarters, and provide
recommendations to managers and executives to travel crews, shift equipment, work overtime, and supplement workforce
with contractors.
The Resource Scheduler works closely with the Long Range Planner and uses work plan inputs (overtime, non-premise,
paid absence, headcount, contractor / internal mix, and work mix) to ensure alignment between plan/schedule and
financial targets. The Resource Planner will gather data from multiple sources to perform detailed analysis and provide
explanations regarding work plan adherence (plan = schedule = financials). The analysis is presented in a format to allow
problem solving and develop countermeasures.
The Resource Scheduler will monitor, plan and coordinate gas and electric workloads using a crew composition timeline
for each week of work. The timeline is modeled to achieve optimal productivity, meet commitments and deliver on
operational and financial goals. The Resource Scheduler coordinates materials with Supply Chain, equipment and
vehicles with Fleet Services, and equipment and resources with external parties and other internal workgroups. The
position communicates with Field Leaders, Team Leaders, Work Schedulers, and Long Range Planners in order to create
a complete and accurate T-4 to T-2 schedule. The Resource Scheduler facilitates weekly meetings with multiple
stakeholders to ensure alignment and a successful handoff of the T-2 schedule.
