Position Summary
Prepare high-quality meals for regular and modified diets according to standardized recipes and resident dining requests. This role supports resident well-being by delivering nutritious, appealing meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, hospitality, and teamwork. Cooks at Resthaven serve as important members of the care experience by creating meals that promote comfort, dignity, and quality of life for residents while supporting a welcoming dining environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality meals according to standardized recipes, production sheets, and resident dietary needs.
- Accurately portion, plate, and serve food while maintaining presentation and quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dishwashing, dining, and food preparation areas.
- Follow all food safety, infection prevention, and regulatory guidelines, including documenting food temperatures.
- Open and close kitchen areas, including food storage, labeling, dating, and securing supplies.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and resident satisfaction.
- Support supervisors, assist with team training, and promote a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Maintain professional and respectful interactions with residents, families, visitors, and team members.
- Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and mission-centered expectations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and therapeutic or modified diets.
- Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service while working efficiently under pressure.
- Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, resident satisfaction, and quality care.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
