Summary
Michigan Technological University is seeking an Assistant Football Coach for Wide Receivers under our General Athletics department. Michigan Tech is a proud member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and NCAA Division II, seeks a qualified Assistant Football Coach for the varsity football program, specifically the wide receivers. Duties include areas such as recruitment, practice/game preparation, practice/game implementation of coaching principles, funding, promotion, and other areas assigned by the Head Football Coach. Assist the Athletic Department in a role to enhance the internal and external visibility and recognition of the Michigan Tech football program.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
1. Plan, organize, and administer the University's varsity football program with emphasis on the offense. 2. Recruit football student-athletes from key areas such as Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan, as well as nationally.
3. Effectively lead, motivate, and inspire our Women's Basketball Student Athletes: develop student-athletes athletically, academically, personally and as leaders; foster accountability, sportsmanship, and a positive team culture
4. Develop and implement football practice sessions to meet the needs for individual and team improvement.
5. Evaluate MTU and opposing team capabilities to determine game strategy and manage/prepare the team for competition.
6. Enhance and promote the internal and external visibility and recognition of the University and team to alumni, and campus and off-campus groups.
7. Actively participate in fundraising activities and alumni relations.
8. Monitor and promote the academic success of football student-athletes.
9. Represent and act on behalf of the University as directed by the Head Football Coach.
10. Functional supervision may be exercised over student assistants and parttime assistants.
11. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in the University's continuous improvement initiatives.
12. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
* Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
* Experience playing wide receiver and 5 years of coaching football at the collegiate level.
* Recruiting experience and a working knowledge of football recruiting areas, specifically Michigan, Wisconsin, and Indiana.
* Commitment to comply with the NCAA rules and Michigan Tech policies and procedures.
* Exceptional knowledge of basic football skills.
Desirable Education and/or Experience
* Fundraising experience
* Athletic recruiting experience in Ohio and Texas.
