St. Michael Parish seeks a part-time Bookkeeper to join their team in Marquette, MI. This role supports the financial, administrative, and operational needs of the parish.
As the Parish Bookkeeper, you will help keep parish financial records accurate, organized, and up to date. This position includes a mix of bookkeeping, accounting support, payroll reporting, contribution tracking, invoice processing, financial reporting, and parish administrative support.

WHAT WE OFFER.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

Utilize the Diocesan Chart of Accounts.

Organize and supervise weekly collection counter teams.
-
Verify, code, and enter invoices and check requests.
-
Pay bills and post journal entries.
-
Maintain the online giving site and post weekly contributions to the ledger and member records.

Maintain business accounts, agreements, and contracts.
-
Coordinate and oversee parish purchasing as directed by the pastor.

Prepare, post, and generate payroll reports using the online payroll system.

Administer and coordinate parish liability and benefit programs.
-
Record and post Memorial Fund and Restricted Funds gifts and withdrawals.

Reconcile monthly bank statements.

Prepare, print, and distribute monthly parish financial reports to the Finance Council.

Attend staff meetings, Finance Council meetings, and required diocesan meetings.

Work with the pastor and Finance Council to prepare the annual budget.

Prepare, print, distribute, and submit related reports and invoices.

Prepare and submit annual diocesan financial reports with help from staff, the pastor, and the Finance Council.

Oversee posting of parishioner contributions.

Prepare annual financial contribution statements and ensure they are distributed by the required deadline.

Maintain parish financial records and reports according to diocesan policies.

Serve as the main contact for tenants regarding expectations, rent, and related matters as directed by the pastor.

Assist with the hiring process for new employees.

Assist the pastor with assembling and maintaining personnel files according to diocesan guidelines.

Help ensure adequate office staffing and manage vacation and sick requests as directed by the pastor.

Maintain the Memorial Fund Book.

Perform other duties as directed by the pastor.
