Education and/or Experience: Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent education and experience, including or supplemented by courses in building maintenance work appropriate for the specific position. At least two years of successful experience in performing a variety of related repair activities, including the repair and maintenance of equipment, buildings and grounds required.
Must be able to show achievement of a high level of proficiency to do at least two of the following upon hire: (1) trouble shoot boiler systems, (2) trouble shoot HVAC equipment, (3) trouble shoot electrical issues and change breakers in panels safely, (4) add circuits to busbars, (5) trouble shoot and repair small engine equipment and/or vehicles, (6) trouble shoot and install plumbing fixtures, (7) change and repair specialized flush valves, (8) design and build cabinetry
A description of relevant work experience must be included on or with the application. Candidates with HVAC experience may be given preference.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Michigan driver’s license with a good driving record is required at all levels.
Other Skills And Abilities: Reasonable knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment, buildings and grounds. Considerable knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of furnaces, ventilating systems, and refrigeration equipment. Ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks involving carpentry, electrical, plumbing and other repair activities. Mechanical aptitude. Skill in the operation of power equipment tools. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, prioritize work, manage time well and meet deadlines Employee will be helpful, respectful and approachable.
