Software Design & Release Engineer - Body Controls (DC-DC Converter Systems)

Pay Rate | $42.30/hour
We are seeking a skilled Software Design & Release Engineer to support the development, integration, testing, and release of embedded software for 48V DC-DC converter systems within next-generation automotive body control architectures. This role is critical in delivering safe, secure, and high-performance power management software for advanced vehicle electrical systems.
The ideal candidate has strong embedded software engineering experience, automotive systems knowledge, and the ability to manage supplier deliverables across the full software lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design, development, integration, and release of embedded software for 48V DC-DC converter modules
Translate functional, diagnostic, safety, cybersecurity, and performance requirements into supplier-ready software specifications
Serve as primary technical interface between Ford and software suppliers
Review and approve software architecture, test plans, validation results, and compliance with ASPICE and ISO 26262
Monitor supplier development progress, KPIs, and program deliverables to ensure on-time execution
Support software validation, verification, bench testing, and vehicle integration activities
Perform root cause analysis and resolve software defects across development lifecycle
Participate in design reviews, FMEAs, and cross-functional engineering meetings
Ensure adherence to cybersecurity and functional safety standards for automotive embedded systems
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering, or related field
3+ years of automotive embedded software development experience
Strong understanding of ASPICE and ISO 26262 processes
Experience with DC-DC converters, 48V vehicle systems, or power electronics
Experience working with automotive suppliers and software release processes
Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in engineering discipline
Experience with Ford GPDS tools (WERS, Integrator)
Knowledge of UDS, OBD-II, and diagnostic protocols
Experience with DOORS or JAMA requirements tools
Experience in software validation, bench testing, or dyno testing
