Job Description:
Dematc Corp. has multiple needs for Entry-Level Controls Engineering Technicians in our Grand Rapids, MI office. Trade school graduates or candidates with a two year Associates degree in a mechatronics, electrical, or engineering technology program are highly preferred. The successful candidates must have the below qualifications:
* Knowledge of PLC Controls Programming using Allen Bradley, Modicon or Siemens processors
* Knowledge AutoCAD Electrical or Mechanical
* Knowledge of industrial network applications, such as Ethernet IP, Device Net, Control Net, Profi-bus, AS-I, and CAN.
* Ability to read field wiring and panel wiring schematics, validate, troubleshoot and correct I/O and other control device issues
* Willing to travel on short notice and spend more than 50% of the time traveling.
* Willing to be on call and travel on short notice.
* Willing to work weekends, holidays and off shifts.
* Ability to write concise, clear, and complete trip reports in the time frame required according to Dematic procedures.
* Knowledge in the use of personal computers for word processing, spreadsheets, data base functions and communications. Understanding personal computer hardware setup and software configuration required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Engineering Technician receives direction and guidance from controls engineers and managers to support the design, validation and commissioning of simple to highly complex material handling projects. Some of the
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES are:
* Create and maintain project folders, checklists and initial template documents in project data repository
* Prepare layouts and electrical schematics
* Perform order entry of controls cabinets and external controls devices
* Prepare I/O lists for PLC program generation tool
* Configure PLC program using standard library routines
* Emulate PLC programs in house using modeling tools
* Perform I/O checkout, troubleshooting, and PLC program validation at customer jobsites
* Provide on-site support as needed during commissioning and after commissioning is completed
* Archive project documentation per Department guidelines
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Participates in semi-complex engineering related studies, processes, designs, inspections and/or quality audits. Supports the gathering, recording and maintaining engineering specific information. Supports the preparation of semi-complex charts, graphs and diagrams to illustrate various engineering procedures. Provides support with semi-complex testing and troubleshooting in a variety of engineering tasks. Participates in assembling semi-complex prototypes and ensures proper interaction of components. Participates in documenting semi-complex internal engineering procedures via simple text, charts, graphs and diagrams. Participates in semi-complex specification development or preparation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs semi-complex work within technical or paraprofessional area. Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex. Refers complex, unusual problems to others.
