Summary
Michigan Technological University is seeking an Enterprise Program Manager. They will provide administrative and operational coordination in support of Michigan Tech's Enterprise Program. This role assists with financial tracking, event coordination, project documentation, and communication efforts to ensure smooth day-to-day program operations. Working under the direction of the Enterprise Program Director, the Program Manager supports budgeting processes, prepares financial reports, coordinates logistics for major events, and assists with student and partner communications. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a collaborative environment. This position supports the continued delivery of high-quality experiential learning opportunities for students across the Enterprise Program.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
1. Perform budget projections, analyze actual activities, and conduct cost feasibility studies to assist the Director of the Enterprise program in decision-making and planning.
2. Analyze and prepare budget reports, statements, and spreadsheets for both internal and external use, providing regular updates to the Enterprise Program Director.
3. Prepare and submit financial paperwork, including university and Tech Fund check requests, budget transfers, budget modifications, deposits, payroll reallocations, student travel, and expenditure reallocations.
4. Independently analyze departmental financial data to provide insights and prepare regular accounting reports.
5. Utilize financial systems (BANNER, WebFocus, Perceptive Content, and ASPIRE) to track, access, or report department financial and administrative data.
6. Manage daily operations of the Enterprise program office, performing a wide range of complex and confidential administrative tasks efficiently.
7. Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to optimize department and office operations, ensuring deadlines are met and tasks are completed.
8. Plan, organize, and execute large-scale events such as the Design Expo, Enterprise Day, project showcases, sponsor networking events, and corporate engagement activities.
9. Oversee all event logistics, including vendor management, sponsorship integration, communications, budgeting, and event-day operations.
10. Manage timelines, budgets, stakeholder communications, and outcomes tracking for student experiential projects and initiatives.
11. Coordinate multi-team initiatives, ensuring clear deliverables and accountability.
12. Develop and manage program budgets for events, project-based learning activities, and operational expenses.
13. Maintain detailed project documentation and assist in developing program dashboards and annual reports.
14. Serve as a primary advisor and resource for current and prospective students navigating the Enterprise Program and experiential opportunities.
15. Collaborate with Enterprise teams and faculty advisors to strengthen participation, visibility, and cross-campus integration.
16. Act as liaison with University Marketing & Communications and other campus partners.
17. Lead outreach initiatives to promote experiential learning through workshops, information sessions, and targeted campaigns.
18. Support sponsor engagement and relationship management efforts aligned with program growth.
19. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
20. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
Bachelor's degree in STEM, education, business, communications, nonprofit management, student affairs, or a related field.
Required Experience
* 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in event planning, student services, or program management.
* At least 2 years of experience managing budgets and financial data.
* At least 2 years of experience efficiently managing or running an administrative office.
* Demonstrated strength in written and interpersonal communication.
* Experience using financial and reporting systems to generate reports and analyze data.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders simultaneously.
Desirable Education and/or Experience
* Experience working in higher education or large, complex organizations (75+ employees).
* Proficiency with reporting tools such as Banner, WebFocus, Concur, ASPIRE, Cayuse, or similar systems.
* Advanced financial spreadsheet modeling and analysis experience (5+ years preferred).
* Experience processing gift transmittals, invoices and grant proposal financials.
