Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing production equipment, facilities, grounds, and general building maintenance using a wide range of techniques and specialties. This position will advocate and support the Corporate Win Strategy including participation on site HPT teams.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and logic systems.
Fabrication and welding of metal structures.
Responsible for securing, leveling, aligning and the mechanical hookups during machine installations.
Must have the ability to take projects from perception or idea without a blueprint to completion, developing diagram as wok progresses. Use power tools, bench tools, wrenches, carpentry, etc.
Must work closely with site safety to assure compliance with OSHA and Federal Regulations.
Required to work with variety of hand tools including welding and power brake presses.
Required to perform machine repair work as indicated.
Maintain a high degree of quality and safety.
Ability to train, instruct and assist trainees through the training period.
Install and maintain the electrical systems of the plant to provide power for machines, equipment, lighting, facilities and other electrical apparatus and gear.
Install and wire centralized control panels, layout and wire distribution centers and circuits, machine tool controls and switches, electrical control and timing devices, lighting systems, etc., to conform with involved engineering specifications and schematic drawings.
Diagnose, isolate and correct electrical troubles to involve repair and replacements of controls, motors, switches, devices, and gears, re-routing of circuits and distribution centers to balance loads, etc.
Make emergency repairs when necessary to offset excessive downtime and production delays.
Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner, that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment
Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk
Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately
Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner
Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and
5-S projects
Document all work in CMMS (work order system) as required.
Will perform other tasks as directed my plant supervision
Required Skills/Abilities:
Able to operate mobile, mechanical equipment in compliance with OSHA standards
Complete certification and be issued a forklift and equipment license
Able to reach, bend, twist, reach overhead, and operate equipment; climb platforms or scaffolding and work at ceiling heights
Basic computer skills
Ability to regularly lift 40 lbs. and occasionally lift to 70 lbs.
Good verbal and written communication skills
Education and Experience:
Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
Associates degree, maintenance certification (or working toward degreed program) (preferred)
2-5 years' experience in maintenance related field
Physical Requirements:
Fumes, dust, oils, outside during hot and cold weather months
Extended periods of standing/walking for 8 hours per day
Must be able to work in fluctuating hot and cold work environment
May be required to work daily overtime / weekends / holidays to support business needs
