GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Assists setting up, driving and operating a Vactor Truck Combo Unit, as well as various other equipment in the performance of daily operations. Operates waste hauling vehicles as directed based on operational needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Load and prepare equipment for upcoming jobs. Unload equipment upon arrival on the job. Re-load equipment upon completion of the job and unload equipment upon return to the shop. This includes lifting, carrying and pulling equipment of various size, shape and weight.
Assit setting up and operating waterblasting equipment including the 10K, 20K, and 40K units. This requires carrying and setting up hose weighing up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods and operating waterblast guns weighing up to 20 lbs and generating pressures up to 40 ,000 psi.
Set up and operate vacuum trucks. This includes lifting, carrying and pulling hoses of up to 100 lbs, climbing on to the unit (12' high) for set up and minor maintenance, standing, kneeling or bending for long periods of time.
Assist setting up and operating sewer cleaning equipment. This includes lifting equipment weighing up to 80 lbs, standing for long periods of time, and climbing on to the unit for set up.
Operates earth moving equipment in accordance with skill level.
Perform confined space entry in tanks, pits, trenches and other areas that may include climbing, standing and working in awkward positions.
Inspect, use and maintain various personal protection equipment including chemical protective suits, respiratory protection equipment, safety harnesses, and air monitoring equipment.
Set up and operate various hand held and hand operated equipment including power tools, shovels etc.
Work in a variety of work environments including chemical plants, metal fabrication plants, steel mills, hot and cold weather and noisy environments, etc.
Responsible for his/her own on the job safety and work quality.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with FMCSR guidelines.
Maintain Hours of Service logs (when required) accurate and up to date.
Check all load related paper work prior to movement of load to ensure completeness and accuracy including Manifests, Bill of Lading, Land Disposal Restriction forms, etc.
Ensure proper placarding of waste hauling vehicle.
Ensure professional and safe operation of vehicles while on customer property and over the road.
Wash trucks internally when directed.
Wash truck/trailer exterior as needed.
Perform minor maintenance functions on trucks as needed while on the road.
Serve as a mentor when needed
