The responsibilities of this position consist of teaching courses primarily in a face-to-face setting, in a learning lab format, and possibly online. This position involves preparing for and teaching courses in assigned discipline in order to achieve course requirements and student success outcomes. This position holds accountability for instruction, student assessment, and evaluation of a diverse student population.
Examples of Duties
- Teaches assigned classroom courses.
- Completes and updates syllabi for courses assigned and ensures course content and requirements meet the requirements of college and accreditation agencies.
- Completes appropriate assessment tools to determine course effectiveness and assures that student outcomes are achieved.
- Assesses student academic achievement and provides students with timely and meaningful feedback on progress in the course(s).
- Maintains and reports appropriate classroom records, to include student attendance and grades.
- Holds appropriate office hours for meeting with and assisting students.
- Maintains regular communication with full-time and adjunct faculty in the assigned department(s), Library and Learning Services staff, and Registrar and Retention Services.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service programs within the department and college-wide.
- Adheres to the objectives, policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines of the college. Ensures all communications and practices demonstrate support of the Ethics for Teaching Professionals.
- Support and serve as a role model for the college mission, values, and student service initiatives.
- Per the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), a federal consumer protection law, your job position entails functions that meet the definition of a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs have a duty to report any crime to the College’s Clery Compliance Officer. This information may be disclosed to them directly, through third-party, or witnessed. As a CSA, you are required to complete annual training which is provided by the College. This training encompasses your role, responsibilities, and reporting obligations.

Typical Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licensure:
- Master’s degree in Social Work or in a related discipline, required.
- Master’s degree in another discipline with 18 graduate credits in Social Work or in a related discipline required.
Experience:
- Two years of teaching experience, ideally at the community college level.

- Ability to develop and effectively deliver course content/objectives and facilitate an effective learning environment for students to maximize their success.
- Knowledge of computer and educational technology and ability to effectively integrate technology into the classroom.
- Must possess effective planning, organizational, and communication skills, and be comfortable working in a close, collaborative manner with other faculty and administration.
- Analytical skills to evaluate and report student learning outcomes.
