Cloud Platform Software Engineer (Contract)
Location: Dearborn, MI (Hybrid - 4 days onsite)
Pay: $46.06/hour
Position Overview
Join a high-impact Cloud Platform team supporting next-generation mobility solutions. This role focuses on designing, developing, and managing scalable platforms, APIs, and microservices within a cloud-native environment. You will play a key role in delivering customer-facing software and driving innovation across the platform ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and support cloud-based platforms, APIs, and microservices
Build Java/Spring Boot applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including Cloud Run, GKE, and Pub/Sub
Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions
Apply Agile methodologies (Kanban/Jira), TDD, and CI/CD best practices
Execute API performance testing, monitoring, and optimization
Refactor and enhance microservices for scalability, reliability, and efficiency
Utilize DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube) for deployment and code quality
Participate in architecture discussions, whiteboarding sessions, and solution design
Ensure secure, high-performing, and resilient cloud-based applications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
6+ years of experience in cloud-based software engineering
Strong expertise in Java (11/17+), Spring Boot, and microservices architecture
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Apigee/API Gateway
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and containerization (Kubernetes/GKE)
Knowledge of API development (REST, JSON, Swagger, Postman)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with incomplete data
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js)
Knowledge of service mesh (Istio), IAM, and cloud security best practices
Experience in monitoring tools (Datadog, Dynatrace) and automated testing frameworks
