Ontonagon County Public Transit (On-Tran) is seeking applicants
for a Part-time Dispatcher.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director and/or Director, the Dispatcher receives requests for service, groups rides, and directs Drivers to pick-ups using a two-way radio.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a High School graduate and familiar with Ontonagon County roads. It is preferred that you are familiar with basic office equipment, possess tact & diplomacy, and have efficient sequence planning.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Receive service requests and respond with accurate expected pick-up times. Group service requests in an efficient manner.
- Answers and routes all incoming telephone calls. Politely provides system information to the public.
- Notifies drivers of runs using a two-way radio. Assures that proper radio protocol is followed at all times.
- Maintains a daily dispatch log, records daily bus fueling, passenger trips, driver break sheet, and all other pertinent information.
- Constantly monitors vehicle locations and movement patterns. Maintains contact with drivers and their progress. Receives emergency notifications and initiates corrective actions and service. Notifies drivers as to unfavorable weather, driving hazards, and other factors that may affect the safety and performance of the system.
- Coordinates daily cleaning and fueling of buses, bus changes, and driver breaks.
- Receives driver logs, pre-trips, and counts fare box with drivers.
- Accommodates ticket sales.
- Performs janitorial work in the offices, cleaning and maintaining the general premises.
- Advises drivers of changes in policies and procedures, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to, and service is provided safely, efficiently, and effectively.
- With appropriate training and licensing, you may fill in as a bus driver.
- Attends all employee meetings and required training sessions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
